Members of the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea donated and planted a peace pole near the Vineyard-Kaniela Street corner of the temple grounds. The peace pole carries the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in eight languages. This effort was initiated by the late Mark Harbison. The peace pole originated in Japan in 1955 and has become internationally recognized as a symbol of peace. Since the first peace pole outside of Japan was planted in 1983, over 200,000 peace poles have been placed in nearly 200 countries. Mahalo to the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea for their kind gesture and their wish for peace. A dedication ceremony will be held at a later date
