MEMBERS AND friends are cordially invited to the annual New Year’s Eve (Joya e) Service on Tuesday, December 31, beginning at 11:15 p.m. Kyodan president, Michael Munekiyo, reminds members that the final service of the year is a time to reflect on the outgoing year and anticipate and celebrate the beginning of a new year.

After the service, attendees are invited to toll the temple bell to ring in the new year and rid ourselves symbolically of the “108 imperfections” and to partake in the traditional refreshments, which include buckwheat noodles (soba), rice wine (sake) and other items, which will be served in the Social Hall
