As soon as the door to the game room was opened at 7:45 pm, children rushed in to enjoy games offered by the dharma school at WHM’s Obon festivities last month. Parents, teachers, students, and friends manned six carnival type games throughout the two nights. The activity was a fun way to organize a fundraiser conducted to help defray costs of future dharma school events and activities. Thank you to all for helping to make the event a success!
Registration and Soda Floats Kick Off the New School Year
D.S. registrations were conducted online and in person on August 6 to encourage families to enroll their children in the dharma school program. Teachers Laurie Fukushima-Tsai, Sandra Hirata, Shelley Quipotla, Samantha Takamura, Joan Tamori, and Lynn Yamauchi are excited to welcome grades preschool through high school. A meeting was also held to introduce teachers and briefly explain Jodo Shinshu dharma education. Lynn Yamauchi, communications coordinator, will serve as a liaison between staff and parents
